1. Knowledge to understand social challenges and improve social action

The “la Caixa” Foundation Social Observatory is a space for generating and connecting knowledge to enhance responses to major social challenges.

Through research, analysis and knowledge transfer, it promotes more informed decision-making, strengthens the Foundation’s programmes and contributes to public debate.

It operates in both Portugal and Spain, working in collaboration with the social ecosystem, connecting stakeholders, identifying emerging needs and promoting impactful solutions.

Mission

2. How we work

It combines three dimensions: analysis and evidence generation, its translation into practical and accessible formats, and the activation of the ecosystem to turn knowledge into action.

3. Palau Macaya: a space for connecting with the social ecosystem

Palau Macaya, located in Barcelona, is an International UNESCO Centre for the Social and Human Sciences and a key space from which the Observatory promotes dialogue and collaboration with the social ecosystem.

Through meetings, reflection processes and activities, it facilitates connections between research, programmes and social actors, contributing to the identification of emerging needs and the development of proposals with social impact.
